Coffee Terms

Espresso:  Coffee prepared in a special machine from finely ground coffee beans, through which steam under high pressure is forced.

Espresso Con Panna:  Straight shot of espresso topped with whipped cream.

Espresso Romano:  A straight shot of espresso served with fresh lemon peel or slice of lemon.

Espresso Macchiato:  A serving of espresso topped with a spoonful of thick, velvet foam.

Americano: A serving of espresso, diluted with hot water to make a full cup of great tasting coffee.

Cappuccino:  A serving of espresso with equal parts of steamed milk and foam (wet) or if you prefer a lot of foam (dry).

Café Latte:  A serving of espresso with steamed milk, topped with a small amount of foam.

Café Breve:  Latte made with steamed Half and Half, rich and heavenly.

Mocha Latte:  A latte flavored with chocolate syrup topped with whipped cream.

“On a leash” – Coffee to-go

“Double” – referring to two shots of espresso

“Skinny” – a drink made with Skim/fat free milk
